Light up your world through positive experiences!

Did you know that it is said that the mind cannot tell the difference between real and imagined?

We become what we eat, what we think and what we feel, as well as what we watch and what we read. I want to offer a perspective of what negativity may do to your body. You may never have even looked at this before, but stay with me, I’ve been brewing on this for a while.

Think back to the last crisis that played out on TV. To start off with we were glued to the TV, we wanted to find out every little detail of the situation at hand, and we took it all in. The media feeds on this and offers us 24/7 coverage and pretty soon we are bombarded with information to the point where it starts to make us feel overwhelmed, obsessed, fearful and stressed. We then either do one of two things; we back off and turn of the TV and social media or we dive headlong into the situation creating stress on our bodies and mind.

It sure did affect me. Physically and mentally, I felt drained, stressed, alone and I was fearful for my beautiful family.

Our bodies have a reaction to this stress. It may not be physically happening to us, but it is affecting our health. Why? Because what we read and what we watch has a direct relationship to how our bodies respond, our minds think it is actually happening to us.

When we view something fearful, either directly or indirectly, our bodies nervous system responds, and we dive into our sympathetic nervous system. Our fight, flight or fawn or freeze system. Which is great in a crisis when we need to survive and our body switches off all unnecessary systems like digestion, procreation and healing, cos who needs them when you’re trying to fight to live?

The problem is we aren’t in imminent danger, we are just watching, listening, and taking in things that make us fearful.

Now, think of yourself reading a graphic crime series, or watching a crime show (bingeing on Netflix). You can’t get enough of it. You read book after book, or watch episode after episode, totally invested in the death and destruction of the series.

This is all going into your mind. Negativity, guts and gore. What does our mind do with this information? What does this do to our autonomic nervous system? Do we become sympathetic dominant, and our bodies then are constantly on alert? Not healing or digesting properly causing issues within? And what about our vibration? Do we then send out a lower frequency, and thus bringing lower frequency people into our lives?

There’s only one way to test this, and that’s by making a decision to stop with the negative and input only learning experiences and positivity for a couple of weeks and see how your body reacts to this heightened state. Notice how you feel, how you respond to a stressful situation and how your interactions with others play out.

Learn something new like a different language, take up a hobby or read a book that gives you a new perspective on your own wellbeing. There are so many options available to enhance your life. Spend those free hours of binge TV on working and building a more enlightened you. Invest in the most important person in the world: YOU!

Food for thought, spread your love and positivity and see if that ripples out into your world.
